The Denis Mercier Estate, founded in the early 20th century by the Mercier family, is known for its deep-rooted history and commitment to quality. In 1981, Anne-Catherine and Denis Mercier took over the estate and fully dedicated themselves to viticulture. Since then, the estate has expanded and diversified, reaching 7.2 hectares in 2016, while focusing on sustainable and environmentally-friendly farming practices. The estate is characterized by a wide variety of terroirs and meticulous winemaking, producing exceptional wines that are elegant and complex. Perfect for fine wine enthusiasts, the Mercier Estate offers a diverse range, from fresh whites to powerful reds, featuring iconic grape varieties like Chasselas, Pinot Noir, and Humagne Rouge.
The Van Volxem Estate is located in the historic center of Wiltingen on the Saar River. The estate's vineyards were originally planted by the Romans in the 3rd century, on the Saar’s finest slate sites. Rediscovered in the 11th century by monks, the estate's vineyards eventually became part of a monastic cellar under the Jesuit order in the 17th century.
Following the French Revolution, the property was secularized and eventually came into the possession of Gustav van Volxem, a brewer who had emigrated from Brussels. The visionary van Volxem recognized the potential of the prime vineyard sites and, over the years, transformed it into one of the most renowned wineries in the German Empire.
